Go thru the wheel well. There is plenty of room if you just turn the wheel right or left then remove the fasteners and work from there. There is also a small inspection window in the wheel well.

Hope you're able to get it done with minimal ease.

Blessings and Peace

3 out of 4

Hi Guys,

I have managed to replace 3 out of the 4 lights (dips/mains) but how do I replace the main bulb that is obscured by the washer bottle???? I can barely get my hand down to remove the cover let alone get the bulb out!!

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Thank you for posting about the lights

So here's what I've done so far with my lights (Kona 1.6T not ultimate)

Fog lights: RCP h11 LED with canbus adapter

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01N6LX0JS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

THEY ARE SO BRIGHT HOLY CRAP. Easy to install just pop out the terrible push fasteners, unbolt the 10mm bolts, and just reach in and replace the fog lights. No light alarms. Probably shouldn't use them at night unless you need to

Low beams: Philips Diamond vision h7

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B007JZKBVW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The pigtail for the low beams is also the retention clip so putting in LEDs with the huge butt isn't an option. There's also almost no room in the headlight housing.

High beams: Philips Diamond vision h7

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B007JZKBVW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Have them on order, should be good. Same deal with the pigtails.

Interior lights: eco_zilla kit from ebay

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/For-2018-Hy...t-Kit-8-PCS/112802532405?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

on order, don't know how well it will go.

Also ordering some el cheapo halogens from amazon: agptek h7

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B071Z1KSK7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

just to watch the world burn

A note about the philips lights: apparently they may not be legal in your region, idk why. the ultimate kona comes with white LEDs anyway.
Just a thank you for bringing these lights to my attention. I just had the very same ones installed as a swap for my headlights today. Someone mentioned wanting to see a photo of them at night so Im posting a relatively closeup image of the front end with the fog lamps on. Note: the fog lamps are a much more yellow light than appears in the photo.
Had the dealership install them for me as I'm not as handy as you "car guys" are :)

Can you post a pic of how the light output is on the road?

Absolutely love the 2019 Kona Ultimate overall. Lights are a different issue. Although the headlights are now LED (standard) in this trim, I truely dislike the fog lamps (halogen). Such a cheap look.

I tried looking up the RCP LED lamps (top of this thread), but the link is Amazon's Canadian website. The site will not allow me to order from them for shipment to the US. The worse part is that the RCP product is not even found on Amazon's US website.

After some research, I am ordering the Cougar Motor LED Headlight Bulbs All-in-One Conversion Kit - H11 (H8, H9) -7,200Lm 6000K Cool White which use the same premium CREE lamps as the RCP. The cost is close to the same (~$45/pair).

Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H6NZ7D8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I will take before and after pics. I don't see any clear instructions anywhere for accessing them. I'm assuming the 2019 Kona is similar to 2018 as far as accessing the fog lamps (from underneath)? Wish me luck on a careful and successful installation when the lamps arrive! If anyone has hints on getting to the lamps (pictures?), along with any clearance issues compared to original halogens, it would be appreciated!

From under neither is your best bet. Don't touch the bulbs with your fingers. Make sure they are Can bus type bulbs. Check what Did You Do To You Kona Today thread. I think you'll find something there. Or do a search in the Google search block below the upper one for Hyundai Kona Fog Lamp Installation.

Blessings and Peace

The advertisement says; "These bulbs are CanBUS-Ready" does this mean you have to add an adapter?

Those Cougar headlights are going to be very VERY bright fog lights.

Here's a question... what bulb is used for the turn light in the headlights, I have the limited, so I have LED headlights. I want to change the yellow turn light out soon, I don't use the fogs, so that will be the last thing I do. Rims and tires are more important then fogs for me.

1157
You'll need 1157 with built in can-bus, you can't add restors without a lot of work!

I've ordered these, supposed to be here from China by Jan 17th.

The turn light next to the headlamps? Those are h7's.

Cougar Motor LED fog lamps installed! Relatively easy to do. We'll see how well they hold up. 50,000 hour life is the claim. So far, no error codes show up, no flickering, just pure white light (can BUS is included). Kona wiring showed no polarity, and Cougar Motor instructions say polarity doesn't matter, but I checked anyway since the plugs on the cougar lamps are coded positive and negative. I also marked the Kona wiring to show correct polarity for next time...

Worked perfectly the first time. See attached pics.

Finally did it! I found a pair of H7 led bulbs that fit in the low beam cases, including the fan and I could reinstall the lids too. Canbus is small and it fit in too so no holes to the lid and looks like a factory solution. Tomorrow night I will try how bright are, but during installation, I already notice they were brighter than the Phillips Diamond Vision I had before. I bought the bulbs and the adaptors in Amazon. I will send you the links for those who are interested.

Let us know .... I purchased an HID kit already but I still be interested to see how this other one works for you

Stick with the HID, they are far superior even though they take a few seconds to ignite and may not last as long you still have better light pattern and no dead spots also if they do fail the warranty will cover you for 5 years and on and on.

Fact about cheap LED lights with fans they have been known to burn up , fact from my tinter who ran a decent priced set that started smoking and burned up so its all in the price and name of the brand same goes for HID, Hylux or Morimoto are some of the best for HID.

Everyone is talking about replacing these , has anyone actually tried to get to them, I have and there is no room to get to them without removing the washer bottle and driver side is nearly impossible. These are only activated for a few seconds while you make a turn then off, I honestly can barely see them with tint and do not rely on them, thing I want to do is disabling them so my fogs to stay on and not turn off for that split second in a turn.

Well, I tryed the leds today. To many black spots, I moved the bulb trying to find a better pattern but I'm not satisfied. I'm going to follow the HID path!

Good to know, I am going the 6000K halogen route since I figured like you said they are not on that long ....so I sure hope that leads to longer life, but then you have to factor in on-off degradation. If they burn out fast I will then go LED. But then again when I get there, like you said, I may say auh.......nope. I don't use my driving lights so that will be maybe a next year out lay. I just bought new tires and rims on Black Friday. The new tires Extreme 06 are my winter tires on OEM rims and I just picked up my rims yesterday. I am waiting for another 10% sale in early spring for my summer tires. I will be going the General AS-05 route since they are good in the rain and are a good handling cheaper tire to burn up in the summer sport driving.
