.... is this only for the new Kona -- or would it work on my 2019 ?? thanks !!!
I was able to update my 2019. The whole process is a pain, but I saved the update to the same SD card that was in the car, from my laptop (you need an SD card reader)... it basically wiped the old software and replaced it with the newest version. Took about 30 minutes of having the car on to fully load and restart.

Here's my experience with the USB-drive update and some step-by-step actions to prevent you from bricking the infotaiment system.

1. Download the updater app, install it and load the firmware onto your USB-drive
2. Connect it to the car and initiate the update process
3. Wait until in extracts all the files (the process took me roughly 90 minutes)
4. Once it asks you to start the update process by turning off the ignition, do that and wait at least 10 minutes before turning the ignition back on. I received a push notification from Bluelink three minutes after I'd started the update that it had completed successfully, started the car and it actually broke the sound system, navigation and cameras. It seems like you actually have to wait at least 10 minutes before starting your car, which isn't mentioned anywhere.
5. Start your car and test everything – navigation, sound, cameras, CarPlay, etc.

Hope this helps.

Is that perhaps why my maps. Spotitify, and ph is not working . It keeps telling me to instal ph and usb . But my usb is not talking to my ph. Tried everything. If anyone has any ideas please.

Was getting ready to install the OTA update when I got into my car this morning and to my surprise it did it overnight. Don't know how, but not complaining. Wireless seems to be working fine and all my settings were intact. Now the next issue is the iPhone as a digital key. I got it hooked up, but cannot get it to open doors? Anyone have info about this?

If your US 2024 Kona has Navigation, there is a downloadable update from Hyundai that enables wireless CarPlay. Nothing available over OTA.

Download the Nav updater from update.hyundai.com and log in as guest.

Download the file, put it on an USB C drive with at least 64gb and run the update.
Took about 75 minutes for the update. The files are over 40gb.

After the restart, delete your device(s) from both the Kona and your iPhone, removing it from CarPlay and Bluetooth.

Make sure that both WiFi and BT are enabled on your phone.

Add it from within the Device Connections on the touch screen.

It is quick and extremely stable freeing up the data port for our USB drive of music.

Enjoy!
Yes! This was a great surprise. When I got mine the dealer said it wasn't available at all. I have an AA wireless box so it wasn't a deal breaker. To my surprised it updated OTA and wireless Android was working! I didn't even need to be driving or keep the car on. It was done sitting in the garage.

My update finally finished. Estimated it took approx 6-7 hours of drive time to get it finished setting up. The took no longer than 10 minutes to install the update after. Wireless Android auto works perfectly. And can say I noticed the stereo sounds alot better as well. Still not as good as I was expecting from a Bose stereo system. But alot has been improved from the base configuration. Hopefully one day they will add ability to adjust Sub volume and some settings regarding the mid speaker. Should be able to pull off some sound fields with that speaker in the front.

Don't you have an equalizer in the settings? It's quite simple, I agree, but makes quite a difference from the base configuration.

Are you calling the Bass/Middle/Treble settings an EQ? That's all we have on the Canadian build. Pretty much every car stereo since the 50's has had those options. My last car, a 2018 Kia Forte with non-premium stereo (same company same stereo updater) had a 7 band EQ and a few more options to control the sound, and preset EQ settings for different music types. Just feels like something missing that a premium Bose sound system with 8 speakers only represents 4 speakers on the faders and no real EQ. I would expect it should at minimum have a Sub control. Sub Bandpass setting would be a great option as well.

Premium Bose is just a name. There is nothing premium about it. All manufactures upgraded stereos are better than the stock but nothing too great. I have owned many cars and only the luxury brands offer the high-end sound systems. Beside's Bose has been **** for decades. I will say for what it is, I think it's good. My MP3s using a USB stick sound very good. Sirius will always sound crappy.

Yeah I wasn't expecting it to be Custom Stereo good. Have had a few cars with big stereos and knew I wouldn't have anything that good. When I purchased my Forte, it was my first car where so much is integrated into the deck that switching it out didn't make much sense. And from what I have heard not great outputs ect to throw amps and a sub in these integrated decks. Really didn't like my Forte's sound system. But after having Bose headphones, and a Bose soundbar on my TV, I kind of expected that same Bose sound when getting Bose stereo in the car. Not great Bass. But has an airy mid-high range. In fact it was one of the main drawing points that got me to choose a N Line Premium over the Kona Preferred. So you can imagine my disappointment when it sounded no better than my old Forte, and had less options to try to tune the sound to make it sound better.

This is what you get from Bose. I own a pair of headphones and a soundbar + subwoofer from them, and the bass/middle/treble are the only configurable things there.
