Anybody mounted a dash cam or radar detector?

Getting ready to install my radar detector, looking for a dash cam and don't want to "reinvent the wheel".

I'll 3M tape the detector and use a mirror mount for the camera.

I would like to use "mirror tap" to power both.

Anybody know if there is any power at the mirror even if it's unpowered?

Do not know what area's of the windshield might effect the camera pedestrian view, let us know if you find any issues placing it. My gps would not work 80% of windshield, had to mount next to review mirror. Could not get gps reception.

You can mount it right under the plastic cover behind the rearview mirror that holds the camera sensor. It won't effect the sensor in this position.

Mine is mounted beside the unit for the FCA/Rearview mirror.

Gets a good view of the road.

My tag is also mounted there for our toll roads, all outside my field of view.

Where did you run your wires for the rear camera? along the headliner? I'm contemplating getting someone else to do it because im uber paranoid of messing up the curtain airbags.

Mine are ran down the headliner and side, just poked down.

Push it in with a trim removal tool, you can get a feel for it.

Over the doors, I peel back the rubbers and go under them for a totally clean look and to also avoid the airbags

Same setup in my skoda and never an issue

This was a supper easy DIY, there is power at the mirror.
I'll go check which pins (wires) I used in a couple hours.

I re-used one of these. for the escort, still waiting to start the camera.

Not sure which size, .045 or .075. After reading the reviews it looks like .045 should work.

or order one of these.

NOTE: these pictures are from our March build 2018 limited, 12volts is the red wire, ground is the blue wire next to the red.
The power is switched.

Dumb question - how do you remove the center cover to get to the wires? Im afraid to break it - it IS a brand new car after all!

Greetings and Welcome
Thanks for asking for a update.
Here are a couple pics.
It takes a pretty good pull to snap the cover off, reinstalling is easer if you snap one side (driver) in first.
