So this strip of metal is falling out right below the rear passenger door.

I am pretty sure it is road debris that miraculously attached itself to the car, but I want to get a second opinion before I yank it out. Can someone else take a look at their 2020 Kona EV SEL and see if there is anything like this there?

I just checked my Australian model. I cannot see anything that resembles what you have shown. I think you have rather freakishly picked up some debris, as you reported in your post.

Yeah, it looks like a metal binding strap for securing a loaded pallet or similar. A nasty piece of sharp, hard steel debris to find on a road. I've never seen this stuff used here in NZ.

It looks to me like a section of a windshield wiper. you can see in your pic where it slices through the plastic part of the body of your car.

The scale is hard to determine from the photos alone but that's entirely likely.
