I downloaded about 100 songs from a HD Tracks site, which are "Super High Quality" recordings, just to see what they would sound like on the Infinity system in the Kona. I inserted the 256GB USB drive into the USB port, switched to USB, and watched as the songs were "shown" on the screen, but only played a couple of songs (they sounded incredible by the way) but the rest never played. None of the touch screen choices seemed to give me a choice of playing the songs, and I tried them all.....

I'm guessing this system wants a specific file order on the USB in order to play the music. Anyone have any experience with this or can give me some guidance on what Hyundai wants for a file structure?

The exact same 256GB ays perfectly in our Avalon as it is, so if it's just a matter of re-ordering the files to fit the Hyundai, I can do that on another USB stick.

Update, I removed all the folder structure (basically Band Name, then Album Name, then individual song list) and copied all the songs to a USB drive. Tried playing it in the Kona Limited and it doesn't play anything, just the same head unit "seeing" all the songs, but just scanning through them endlessly. For a while I thought maybe it had to load all of them before it would play, but no joy as I watched it cycle through the entire song list again.

Really strange behaviour as I can clearly see that the head unit knows the music is there, but won't play anythig with this folder structure. I was closer with the previous structure as I did hear a couple of songs play.

Gonna have to go to the dealer and see what they suggest.

There are hints about using an MP3 tag in the metadata to help this rather primitive sound system do things more logically, but the folks who seem to know about that are disdainful of anyone who wants to play an album in the order recorded by the artist rather than alphabetically. For these folks it is as if the music is there fore background noise rather that aesthetics. I'm going to try putting a GB or so on my iPhone and see if the AV will read directly from that rather than hook up with the Internet and run up my data-handling bill. It seems it would take the engineers less than a day to create and issue a programming patch that would give us the option to select order-of-use. Perhaps one of the Subject Matter Experts could provide some detailed information? On the other hand, given the limited flexibility of the programming, perhaps it cannot be updated?

I gave up using a USB drive because Android Auto is more important. I transferred the music to the SD card on my phone and use VLC to play them.

I have a dash camera that is really picky about what brand of SD card that you can use, maybe this is your problem?
