Doing some research to replace the rims & tires for my 2021 Kona Elite. The purpose is for a smoother ride and less road noise, so thinking of going down to 16 inch with taller tires.
Came across this site: Tire Size Comparison
Putting in the stock size 215/55 R17 and comparing, I came up with 215/60 R16 as what seems to be a sensible replacement. Does that seem correct?
Looking up available tires in my budget, and in the "eco" range, theres basically:
a) Firestone F01 Fuel Fighter 215/60R16 95V and
b) Yokohama BluEarth-Es ES32 215/60R16 99V
Both about AU$200 each.
Apparently "eco" tyres can be better for road noise (from less rolling resistance) and therefore also more durable.. but are the benefits on paper true in the real world?
Since those two are the same price here, which would be best brand, in terms of comfort and less road noise? Any other recommendations? Thanks! 🙏
