Questions for new EV owner

1530 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  gavine
I ordered a new Kona EV premium in Diva blue due to dock at Tilbury on the 15th,of May I ordered early May It was a cancelled order therefore already on the boat on its way.
My question is does the car when coming to a stop automatically put the brake on?

It depends by what means you are using to slow it down.

If you use the brake pedal all the way to a stop while in Auto Hold mode it will use the friction brakes to hold position after you lift off.
If you use the left paddle hold to stop it uses the motor to hold position and you can let go of the paddle.

You cannot reach a full stop only with the accelerator.

As a note, there are a lot more UK owners on the SpeakEV Kona forum and you'll get quicker answers there.
Thank you for your reply.

What I find interesting is driving my Kona EV in brake regen 3 and getting the nice brake affect when I let off the gas. Then I drive one of my ICE cars and let off the gas and wheeeeeee she just keeps rollin! Just an observation
I wonder if anyone has tried leaving regen on and regen off on a highway trip, I was thinking as you are sitting at or about cruising speed, there would be more benefit having regen off and allowing the car to coast when lifting off the accelerator. Just wondering id anyone has tried both modes and checked any difference in consumption.

With regen on, you can coast by slightly pressing the accelerator pedal. The power meter on the dash shows power output and input. When you zero that out with your foot, you’re coasting.
