Just picked up my new Kona N around April 11th. Has around 1000km on the car. Ive noticed that the car has never made a single popping sound no matter the driving condition or putting it in neutral and hitting around 5,000 or 6,000 rpm.

The car is also in full N mode.

Any suggestions?

I have noticed that the oil temperature needs to be at a minimum of 100 degrees for the pops to come on. In your case, I would be concerned if a component of the sport exhaust system is malfunctioning…. Have you asked your Hyundai dealer about this? Not popping is not normal and should be covered under warranty.

Thanks, everyone for the suggestions. The problem has been fixed!

There are 2 ways to fix the issue.

Solution 1. Head to the dealer and get them to re-flash the ECU. That should fix it in no time and be working again.

Solution 2. (The one I used) Unplug the battery (both positive and negative) wait 30 minutes and then reconnect them. Worked perfectly for me and now the car pops endlessly at 3,000 rpm at any gear.
