Hyundai Kona EV - driver side wheel panel

The strangest thing: we only recently noticed the front driver side wheel panel is a different color than the rest of the car (black). We brought it back from the dealer all black and brand new (Oct 2022.) I only drive it to work and home, where it’s parked behind a driveway gate. We had it taken to a Hyundai shop for a battery recall Oct 2023 and when recently questioned, they denied any switching of panels and accused us of getting into an accident and replacing it. This is not covered under warranty apparently since it is not paint damage. It is so weird that a random person would do this just to switch out to a different color for no reason. The car has never been in an accident and the dust and dirt is consistent with the panel being there for a while (before I noticed it.) Does anyone have this same thing occur? Is there a weirdo auto thief going around changing out panels? It’s just the oddest thing and my husband and I cannot figure out when this happened or why.

If any panel has a slightly different shade when looking from a distance, panel has been repaint. it's not unusual car getting a scratch/dent while being shipped new - could happen inside ship or at other moment. H will repaint and chances are never telling customer. Only way is to notice it when taking possession of the car. May try measuring paint thickness with a meter to confirm paint thicker than the rest of the car
