Hyundai released a teaser video of their first all-electric compact SUV, which will be officially revealed digitally on February 27. After that, the Kona Electric will have its world premiere at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Not much can be gleaned from the teaser aside from its general shape. Though if the Kona Electric lineup is anything like the Ioniq, we’ll most likely see something almost identical to the gas powered variant, but with an updated front facia to identify it as an all-electric vehicle. After all, you don’t really need a large air vent when there are no internal combustion engines to cool.

The Korean automaker has even leaked some technical details of the Kona Electric’s powertrain. Quoted by electrek, Hyundai claims to offer us “one of the most powerful electric engines on the market”, the electric variant is expected to deliver up to 292 miles (470km) of range per charge under the new World Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) regulations. An impressive figure considering how far Hyundai has come since it first launched the Ioniq EV in 2016.

Aside from its “class leading range”, the Kona EV will also come equipped with a substantial list of active safety and driver assistance technologies along with a plethora of convenience and connectivity features.

Those just itching to get their hands on one won’t have long to wait because the Kona Electric is expected to hit the European market this summer.
