Finally, the "impossible" has been accomplished!!
No more excuses. Your illegal PnP LED bulb swaps are officially OBSOLETE! WHOOOOOO, major tech breakthrough!!!
So next time someone starts a thread on the forum "hey, my headlights are poop, how do I make them brighter", an admin shouldn't say "search for LED bulbs" and close the thread.
We can now have a DISCUSSION about RETROFITTING.
LED bulbs in halogen projector housings produce dangerous glare and unpredictable uneven light output since a LED bulb cannot properly replicate the output of a halogen bulb as the original lighting engineers designed. Are LEDs brighter? Of course! Are they obnoxious and reckless and irresponsible and annoying everyone else on the road? Also of course! But until this moment, nobody else had even proposed an alternative solution so OF COUUUUURSE that's what everyone was doing. Doesn't make it right though.
My hope is that, with the newly available CB&D Kona retrofit bracket, the industrious DIYer will be able to perform this mod over a weekend to safely and legally improve their headlight output. For everyone else, I will be available with turnkey headlight build solutions. Also, with that bracket coming to market, you aren't just limited to ME building your lights... Find and employ your local headlight retrofitter! Support local business! There will be plenty of competent builders who will perform basic builds much more affordably than I will.
To be absolutely clear: retrofitting is always significantly more expensive than a bulb swap.... and worth every extra dollar spent. There is no comparison between a properly built headlight set utilizing quality aftermarket components to any sort of plug&play bulb swap solution... even the LED reflectors available on the higher trim level Konas don't stand a chance against a quality retrofit. If you've never experienced one first hand, you simply don't know what you're missing out on.
Of course, I did a LOT more than just a retrofit on my build. I did some paint, an auxiliary high beam LED pod, some addressable LEDs, ya know, standard stuff for me. But don't let my excess that discourage you from a basic build purely for the increased controlled light output. Headlights are safety devices and we all deserve to see safely without blinding others on the roadways.
Right now I'm swamped with work so I can't put too much work into this thread documenting the build --- that will be reserved for my website anyways. But I will link the pictures on my IG page and the YT video so you can see them. They're on the car currently but I won't be able to post any completed install pictures until after the bumper work is complete which is scheduled for next month. Patience please!
In the meanwhile, here's two lil behind the scenes teaser pics focusing on the projectors themselves:

THANK YOU GUYS AND GALS!!!!
Your the second on this forum, and way down the list in the 200ish range for kona retrofits. Kona retrofits are popular on the Vietnamese pages and Philippines pages. Other down side, most professional retrofitters wont use light pods, due to their horrible light output, and poor cutoff. Nice looking regardless.
