For AWD, a $ 1,300 price bump isn't too bad though I don't like how it's limited to two trims only and not the full lineup. That means you have to go for a higher trim than originally planned just to pay a bit more for awd.
2018 Hyundai Kona Priced At $19,500
Arriving in dealerships this March, Hyundai’s first subcompact crossover has one of the lowest starting prices in its segment, undercutting rivals such as the Honda HR-V, the Mazda CX-3, and Ford EcoSport. A base-model 2018 Kona SE will set you back just $20,450 including a $950 destination fee.
Both the entry-level SE and SEL trims comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Atkinson engine, delivering 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque to its front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
The SE comes standard with a 7-inch LCD touchscreen display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, cruise control, LED daytime running lights, automatic headlights, and a keyless entry system.
For a bit more, the $21,150 SEL trim adds on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, push button start, side mirror integrated turn signals, heated front seats, and roof side rails. It even gets a few extra safety features including blind-spot collision warning, lane change assist, lane keep assist, and driver attention warning.
Sitting above the two SE trims are the Limited and Ultimate variants, which are powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Paired with a seven-speed EcoShift dual clutch transmission, the mid and range topping trims produces 175 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.
Coming in at $24,700 is the Limited model and with the price increase comes a set of 18-inch alloy wheels, power tilt-and-slide sunroof, LED headlights and taillights, leather upholstery, power driver seat, automatic climate control, fog lights, and auto dimming rear view mirror.
The range-topping Ultimate variant starts at $27,400 and comes loaded with even more features like an 8-inch LCD touchscreen display with navigation, heads-up display, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist and more.
If that not enough, the Kona even comes in a variety of paint options including Chalk White, Ultra Black, Sonic Silver, Thunder Gray, Pulse Red, Surf Blue, and Lime Twist.
